Roland Dooley

Assistant Pastor

In 1947, Roland Dooley was born in Hollister, a farming community in central California.  A few months later his parents divorced and he moved with his mother to the San Bernardino area.  A few years later his mother remarried and settled in Rialto where he attended Catholic schools.  As a freshman, he transferred to Eisenhower and graduated in 1965.

After graduation, he worked various jobs in the area before returning to the farm in Hollister to work with his father.  In 1968, he made a four-year commitment to the US Navy where he completed a one-year combat tour in Vietnam.  It was during his time in the Navy, in February of 1972, while visiting Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa; Roland gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ.  He immediately began attending a small group Bible Study, where he met his soon-to-be wife; Barbara, who also had recently become a Christian.  Together they attended a Bible study that became Calvary Chapel Red Barn in San Bernardino.  They were married in 1975.

In 1977, Roland graduated from CSU SB and landed a position as a retail credit manager just as Barbara became pregnant with their first child, Benjamin.  About 20 months later, along came their daughter Sarah.

In 1985, Roland, Barbara, and their family began attending Calvary Chapel Rialto where his brother Terry Hlebo had recently been ordained as an Assistant Pastor.

Once both of the children were in grade school, Barbara received a Bachelor’s Degree from Loma Linda University in Dental Hygiene.  In 1994, Roland received his Master’s from Talbot Seminary at Biola University.

Roland went on to teach at Woodcrest Christian High School until 2002 when he was ordained as an Assistant Pastor at CCR.

Their son; Benjamin is currently married and living in California.  Sarah is married and living in Nevada.  Roland and Barbara currently have five grandchildren.
