After attending Fontana schools from Kindergarten through High School, Bob began attending Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga.  It was during this time, in the summer of 1977, that the shop foreman, where he had been working part time, led him into a relationship with Jesus Christ.  In the summer of 1979, Bob began attending one of the Home Bible Studies which would become Calvary Chapel Rialto.  In 1982, he met and married his wife Nancy and they began a family which now includes seven children; some biological, some adopted.  To date, their oldest son, Joseph has given them four beautiful granddaughters and their second son David has given them a very handsome grandson.

In August of 1997, Bob and Nancy packed up their family and moved to northern Oregon, where they planted a new church; Calvary Chapel of the Columbia Gorge.  Bob was ordained by Pastor Terry on June 22, 1998 and he continued to pastor this church for 12 years.  In 2009, they returned to Southern California and Bob became an associate pastor at one of the Calvary Chapel affiliates in the Hemet Valley.  In April 2015, Bob and his family returned to the church which has always been their home.  Bob is the son of Pastor Fred and Yolanda Ruiz who have been serving this church since 1980.  Nancy is the daughter of Johnny Johnson and his late wife Ann who have been an active part of this church family since 1980.

“But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.” Acts 20:24
