Fred was born on June 19, 1932 in the city of San Bernardino, California and is one of nine children.
“I went to school in San Bernardino and on to Sturges Junior High School. I dropped out of school and went to work and then into the Marines where I was trained as a structural mechanic. I completed my high school studies in the Marines and received my diploma from Herbert Hoover High School in San Diego.
On January 21, 1956 I married Yolanda Ornelas. We had two sons and one daughter, and we now have ten grandchildren.
I graduated from Chaffey Community College in 1972 and went on to San Bernardino State College. However, I did not complete my degree due to the pressures of working full time and raising a family.
I worked as a correctional officer for three years at the prison in Chino, California. I left civil service work and went to work at Rohr Industries in Riverside, California and retired from there in 1996. That same year I came on staff at Calvary Chapel where I had been active as a deacon and elder for twenty years. On January 30, 1996 I was ordained.
I completed a pastor study course at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in 1993 and in 1994 I completed the shortened version of the marriage and family course in San Diego.
My wife and I have resided in Fontana since 1963.”
